 The
Rockford Park District’s Neighborhood Recreation Services Team
have Partnered for the last five summers with Patriots’ Gateway
Center to offer youth ages 5-12 and teens ages 13-15 a fun
filled summer camp program at an affordable cost. Working
together every year has strengthened the relationship between
both agencies and connected our staff to jointly serve this
community.
The curriculum for summer 2010
was exceptional, exposing youth to a wide variety of activities
and lifetime skills.
During the summer, Patriots’
and the Rockford Park District offered a cooperative summer camp
program. The program served 350 children, with an average daily
attendance of 140.
PLAY DAYZ
 “The
welcoming” and “We can do” attitude of the and staff at
Patriots’ Gateway are key to our success in jointly serving 150
children during the 2010 summer season. The majority of youth
participated each week were from economically disadvantaged
families. The youth filled 8 weeks of day camp and were exposed
to an array of activities teaching them new skills while they
made new friends along the way. |
