The
Boy Scout Council feels the Patriot’s Gateway Center provides
the best kind of partner. They are mission driven, just as we
are, to help kids in neighborhoods that need it the most. They
welcome Scouting as another valuable program resource to benefit
their kids. It is both good programming and stewardship.
In Scouting,
we believe every kid should have a chance to be a Scout. The
Scoutreach program is our method to deliver Scouting as an after
school program in neighborhoods in which boys might not get the
chance to learn the lessons of self reliance, self esteem,
leadership, citizenship and community involvement that is
central to Scouting.
Community
partnerships is the best way to reach kids. Every Boy Scout
Troop and Cub Scout Pack that has ever existed has been in
partnership with a community group, school, church, service club
or some association that felt the need to reach out and change
the lives of kids.
At this
moment, over sixty elementary school boys are receiving the Cub
Scout program through Scoutreach at the Patriot’s Gateway
Center. In the future we hope to work with our friends at
Patriot’s to add more programs that focus on the needs of
teens.
Thank
goodness for strong community partners like Patriots Gateway
Center. Both of our organizations and the communities we serve
are stronger because of the cooperation we enjoy.
