What Is A Charter
School?
Charter schools are public schools of
choice that operate with freedom from many of the restrictions
found in traditional public schools. Parents and teachers
typically choose charter schools for educational reasons-high
academic standards, innovative approaches and educational
philosophies.
Who Will Attend The
School?
Any child residing in School District 205
who will be entering grades. K-4 in the fall of 2010 may apply.
What Is CICS Rockford
Patriots?
CICS Rockford Patriots is an elementary
charter school that will open in August 2010 with a school day
and school year that are longer than those of traditional public
schools. Also in place will be a school uniform policy, a code
of conduct, and a college preparatory curriculum.
How Are Children
Enrolled?
Parents must complete a new Student
Application and mail to or drop off at the Patriots Center: 615
S. 5th St. or fax to 815.316.0170.
Will Parents And The
Community Be Involved?
Parent involvement and community support
are key to a successful school. We are currently encouraging
parents and community members to join the CICIS Patriots Launch
Committee to learn more about the school, meet the principal and
be a part of the process.
Will Transportation Be
Provided?
Students will be eligible for
transportation provided by the Rockford School District in
accordance with the district busing policy. |

What About
Teachers, Class Sizes And Resources?
CICS Patriots will be hiring
highly qualified, Illinois-certified teachers and will recruit
locally. The average class size is expected to be about 27
students, with two classes in each grade. The school will be
equipped with a library and computer lab, mobile computer units,
and other interactive learning tools to effectively integrate
technology into the classroom.
Will
Children Have The Opportunity To Participate In After-School
Programs?
CICS Patriots will partner with
Patriots Gateway Center and other community organizations to
offer a variety of sports, academic enrichment/tutoring
performing arts and other extra-curricular opportunities to
interested students.
