The center which became
operational in June 2005, has state of the art computers with
flat screened monitors, a teaching monitor all in a newly
decorated 1500 square foot class rooms. Neighborhood residents
are able to send and receive e-mail and conduct research and job
searches on the internet. Currently we are providing computer
technology to residents of the Rockford Housing Authority.
A Community Technology Center
(CTC) is a facility that uses computers to provide a range of
vitals services for those who lack access to technology. The
State of Illinois is establishing CTC’s in low income
communities to bring technology to residents that do not have
access, the CTC is an investment in the neighborhoods,
communities, families and future workforce. The CTC offers
children and adult computer classes in basic computer literacy
and how to use the internet. The grant paid for equipment for
the center, salaries and supplies for parents. |
